At Beeswax, our mission is simple – to build great advertising software. Our company was founded by industry veterans who recognized that traditional, one-size-fits-all DSPs, originally designed for an agency model, are under-serving today’s sophisticated media buyers. Our real-time bidding technology empowers sophisticated buyers to utilize an end-to-end, cloud-based bidding stack for a fraction of the cost or complexity of building their own.

From the beginning, it has been our mission to build great advertising software. Our Bidder-as-a-Service (BaaS) technology is the first of its kind, enabling digital media buyers to regain control over their programmatic advertising efforts. The Bidder-as-a-Service is an evolved version of the traditional digital advertising platform, offering today’s programmatic buyers the transparency, control, and flexibility they need to be successful.

Lives Their Mission

Our innovative product and dedicated people are at the core of our success. Working in the digital marketing landscape, we understand the importance of remaining on the cusp of new trends and best practices. Like a beehive, our small and mighty team works in unison towards achieving the same key goals. We leverage our unique skills and experiences to each provide value and make a meaningful impact.

Our team takes their work seriously but also understands the importance of keeping our environment light-hearted and entertaining. We’re always on the search for new bee puns, or ways to reflect our brand values within the product. Each of our key products are named after bee features – Buzz & Stinger.

Throughout our office, our meeting rooms are also named after famous musicians… with our own little twist. Some of our favorite rooms include Beeyonce, Beech Boys, and Buzzsta Rhymes.

Open Communication

Our success to date is a sentiment of the collaborative and inclusive culture we’ve fostered throughout our team, regardless of the department. Our transparency is unprecedented and resonates from the top-down. Our co-founders take the time to connect with each team member and offer support at any level.

As a company, we proactively make the time to continuously share important news and updates. Each Monday, we host a company-wide all-hands meeting, serving as a way to keep every team member in the loop, even if it doesn’t directly affect them. We also use this time to give recognition to individuals, share new products or campaigns, or even talk about interesting endeavors outside of the office.

Additionally, we’ll also host a monthly all-hands meeting to openly discuss our financials, wins, losses, and future roadmap. This gives team members the opportunity to ask candid questions and make meaningful suggestions.

Throughout each department, we use the OKR framework to continually measure the performance of each team and the individuals within. By providing open access to each individuals OKRs in a Google Sheet, team members can offer support to others and help them achieve their goals.

Work/Life Balance

Having built a team on the foundations of transparency and open communication, we trust that each member is capable of producing their best work with no questions asked. As a result, our team has the flexibility to create their own working schedule that supports a productive lifestyle.

As a team of like-minded individuals, we genuinely enjoy each others company within the office, but also understand that life can get in the way. Having the flexibility to work from home or shift working hours supports those with commitments outside of the office. Whether it be booking an appointment or picking kids up from school, we support each unique lifestyle for every individual.

Our open vacation policy encourages each team member to take time off and recharge whenever necessary. For those with kids, our parental leave policy extends to 4 months for all new parents, and even offers a part-time back to work program, ensuring a smooth transition back into the workplace.

Supports Health & Wellness

As a team that’s passionate about working hard, we actively acknowledge the importance of building a supportive company framework to maintain the health of each member – both physically and mentally.

Our comprehensive health benefits cover all areas, including; health, dental, and vision plans. Additionally, we also pay for a 1 year membership to Citibike for each team member, encouraging them to take the active alternative when commuting.

We’ll often encourage team members to make use of our open vacation policy, prompting them to take a week or 2 off. It’s always important to take time and decompress, then return ready to kick some goals. Outside of work, we also offer dedicated reimbursements for health and fitness expenses like gyms, yoga classes or anything that keeps you moving.

Friends Outside Of Work

As a close-knit team, we’re always looking for ways to connect outside of work and enjoy each others company. From happy hours, to games nights, and even team classes, there’s always something bringing us together.

Every quarter, each department is allocated a budget to organize any team event they please. One of our recent favorites was an escape room where our team had to diffuse a real-life paint bomb. We’ve also hosted cooking classes for cross-department teams, giving those who don’t normally work together the opportunity to get to know eachother. Throughout our Summer Swarm, we even flew our international team members to New York and rented a barge in Brooklyn (fully equipped with a bar).

Our company Slack is filled with exciting channels to share our thoughts, hobbies and passions. We’ve really got a channel for everything, including; the good vibes only channel, high-five channel, trivia channel, and the hot sneakers channel. We even have a nugget channel! This channel came fruition on a Friday when one of our sales consultants bet he could eat 50 McDonalds nuggets in 10 minutes (spoiler alert – he did and we even live-streamed it!).

Encourages Ownership Of Work

The trust we instill within our team is a reflection of our “get-it-done-attitude” shared by each member. Inherent to every role at Beeswax is each individuals willingness to wear a variety of hats, to take responsibility for tasks, and take full ownership of the outputs they produce. This creates an opportunity to see the tangible impact that your work has on the brand. We empower our team with the autonomy to add value to the company. Working at Beeswax requires you to be nimble and understand how to utilize a combination of both your own skills and those around you to proactively manage tasks. Rest assured, at the end of each day, we give each member an appreciative hive-five for all their effort.

Data-Driven

With our co-founders coming from strong engineering and product backgrounds, our data-driven mentality resonates throughout each task we approach. By taking the time to thoughtfully analyze the data we have available, we can prepare the most relevant and effective strategies.

As a product positioned in the programmatic advertising landscape, we look for people who come from an analytical background in SaaS, enterprise, or adtech fields. Our marketing team is encouraged to create their own KPIs and drive the performance of these by making data-driven decisions at all stages of the funnel.

Supports Professional Development

The growth of Beeswax is attributed to the growth of each team member, which is why we’re so passionate about supporting those throughout their development journey. We’re genuinely committed to seeing each team member succeed, which is why we work closely to understand their goals and determine how we can offer support.

Whether it be training courses, conferences, or learning resources, we’ll often subsidize this cost. Every year, each team member has a dedicated $1,000 budget to attending relevant industry conferences. We also host regular training for internal members seeking management skills. As we continue to scale, we look to promote from our internal team whenever possible. Over the course of 5 years, we’ve seen roughly 10% of our team move into higher positions as they continue to grow.
