In 2016, I kickstarted my career in the industry, landing my first job at a startup. This opportunity was invaluable and helped pave the foundations for my career ahead.
Fast forward 2 years, I was ready to source a new opportunity. With a greater understanding of the industry, I was more selective about the roles I pursued. I was eager to find a role with a company that would challenge my skill set and help take my career to the next level.
One thing I failed to do, however, was properly evaluate if a team shared my personal values and interests. With no clear insight into the cultural values of each team, my decision was based purely on the duties of the work itself.
As a result, I accepted an opportunity where I didn’t fit in. I remained in this role for just 3 short months.
I found this trend continued throughout my career across numerous roles.
Looking to solve my own problem, I took it upon myself to build ClickThrough.
ClickThrough is a culture-driven hub for some of the worlds biggest brands. The platform is designed specifically for digital marketers – helping them better connect with teams that share their values.
Each featured team has the opportunity to share a unique insight into their day-to-day values as they relate to the nuances of their digital marketing department.
There’s no denying that the job hunting experience is a strenuous process. Between searching for positions, preparing cover letters, having to use accrued leave when discretely taking interviews, and then completing take-home tasks – it can make you question if it’s even worth moving roles in the first place.
In most cases, this whole process takes place before you even have the opportunity to meet the team you’ll be working alongside each and every day.
